Each week, as we’ve done for a couple years now, our goal is to prime your weekend viewing experience. Our guide will always focus on our most recent MLB Draft Top Prospects Board to give you the best opportunity to focus in on the top talent in the country.
As was the case last year, all games are listed in chronological order. Our goal is to have a one-stop shop for you to check-in on who’s throwing and where to turn your attention. Most of these games are available at WatchESPN with a subscription or a Hulu Live TV subscription!
Pitching Probables:
Friday, February 18th
Iowa RHP Adam Mazur (No. 184) v. Air Force @ 12 p.m. EST
Auburn RHP Mason Barnett (won’t start) (No. 97) v. Oklahoma LHP Jake Bennett (No. 294) @ 12 p.m. EST
Ole Miss RHP Derek Diamond (No. 106) v. Charleston Southern @ 1 p.m. EST
Oregon State LHP Cooper Hjerpe (No. 52) v. New Mexico @ 2 p.m. EST
Charlotte LHP Spencer Giesting (No. 283) v. Louisville @ 2 p.m. EST
Monmouth LHP Trey Dombroski (No. 141) v. Penn State @ 2 p.m. EST
Georgia RHP Jonathan Cannon (No. 67) v. Albany @ 2 p.m EST
Mississippi State RHP Landon Sims (No. 13) v. Long Beach State RHP Luis Ramirez (No. 197) @ 3 p.m. EST
MSU v. LBSU will quietly be one of the better matchups of the weekend. Ramirez is really, really good with a power sinker and an assortment of weapons. He’ll have his hands full with a Bulldogs squad featuring Logan Tanner (No. 29), Kamren James, Luke Hancock, Kellum Clark, Brayland Skinner and Brad Cumbest.
Northeastern RHP Cam Schlitter (No. 212) v. Long Island University @ 3 p.m. EST
NC State RHP Sam Highfill (No. 211) v. Evansville @ 3 p.m. EST
Clemson RHP Mack Anglin (No. 163) v. Indiana RHP John Modugno (No. 190) @ 4 p.m. EST
Arkansas RHP Connor Noland (Unranked) v. Illinois State @ 4 p.m. EST
Arizona RHP TJ Nichols (Unranked/2023) v. Kansas State @ 4 p.m. EST
This is a fairly underrated matchup. The Wildcat v. Wildcat battle will feature top prospects in Arizona C Daniel Susac (No. 7), third baseman Tony Bullard (No. 178), as well as sleepers in Arizona outfielder Mac Bingham and second baseman Jacob Blas. Kansas State features some thumpers in their lineup, especially upperclassman Dylan Phillips, a popular day-three option in 2022.
Duke RHP Marcus Johnson (No. 63) v. Virginia Military Institute @ 4 p.m. EST
Cal RHP Josh White (No. 91) v. Houston @ 5 p.m. EST
Campbell RHP Thomas Harrington (No. 268) v. Appalachian State @ 5 p.m. EST
Oklahoma State RHP Justin Campbell (No. 79) v. Vanderbilt @ 5:30 p.m. EST
This will be the premier matchup of the weekend as Oklahoma State and it’s absolutely loaded roster takes aim at Vanderbilt’s storied dominance. Campbell is one of the best pitchers in the country and firmly has his name circled as a dark horse candidate to jump up into the top of the draft with the college pitching class being so anemic. Vanderbilt will throw either Patrick Reilly or Christian Little in relief, though Chris McElvain will start. Both Reilly and Little are considered Top 10 players in the 2023 class. The Cowboys expect plenty of offense with outfielder Caeden Trenkle (No. 254) providing the spark with the thump coming from third baseman Nolan McLean (No. 54). Vanderbilt is 2023-heavy with prospects, though shortstop Carter Young (No. 21), first baseman Spencer Jones (No. 117) and catcher Jack Bulger (No. 257) are legit prospects in their own right. Of course, the table will be set by freaky speedster Enrique Bradfield at the top for the Commodores, another first round talent for 2023.
Florida State LHP Parker Messick (No. 58) v. James Madison @ 6 p.m. EST
This will be an awfully big test for our No. 1 overall prospect, outfielder Chase DeLauter. The 6-foot-5-inch DeLauter won’t have the opportunity to face a ton of elite competition this season playing in the CAC, so it’s a great opportunity to make an immediate statement to the nation and pro scouts.
Florida LHP Hunter Barco (No. 56) v. Liberty @ 7 p.m. EST
Missouri RHP Spencer Miles (No. 300) v. Nicholls @ 7 p.m. EST
San Diego State RHP Troy Melton (No. 197) v. TCU LHP Austin Krob (No. 233) @ 7 p.m. EST
Gonzaga RHP Gabriel Hughes (No. 35) v. New Mexico @ 8 p.m. EST
Michigan RHP Cam Weston (No. 273) v. Texas Tech @ 8 p.m. EST
UCLA RHP Jake Brooks (No. 214) v. Cal-State Northridge @ 9 p.m. EST
Oregon RHP Adam Maier (No. 53) v. San Diego @ 9 p.m. EST
Cal Poly RHP Drew Thorpe (No. 138) v. Washington @ 9 p.m. EST
Saturday, February 19th
Northeastern RHP Sebastian Keane (No. 140) v. Monmouth @ 1 p.m. EST
Miami LHP Carson Palmquist (No. 41) v. Towson @ 2 p.m. EST
Florida State LHP Bryce Hubbart (No. 40) v. James Madison @ 2 p.m. EST
Another good challenge here for DeLauter against a really tough lefty.
Vanderbilt RHP Nick Maldonado (No. 131) v. Oklahoma State RHP Victor Mederos (No. 71) @ 2 p.m. EST
This is a big one. We’re extremely high on Maldonado and believe he has one of, if not the very best slider’s in the entire country. He’s been up into the mid-90s, though the breaking ball is the wipeout, bread-and-butter offering. Mederos, a Miami transfer, has huge stuff, up to 99 mph. He’s got a great changeup and the slider can flash when he’s right. The pure arm talent is among the best in the country. Again, you’ll also see big pro prospects in this one like Young, Bradfield, Bulger, Jones, McLean and Trenkle.
Gonzaga RHP William Kempner (No. 185) v. Oregon State @ 3 p.m. EST
Georgia Tech RHP Zach Maxwell (No. 100) v. Wright State @ 3 p.m. EST
Virginia LHP Nate Savino (No. 143) v. Gardner-Webb @ 3 p.m. EST
TCU RHP Riley Cornelio (Unranked) v. Cal @ 3 p.m. EST
Mississippi State RHP KC Hunt (No. 228) v. Long Beach State @ 3 p.m. EST
Auburn LHP Hayden Mullins (won’t start) (No. 204) v. Texas Tech RHP Brandon Birdsell (No. 165) @ 4 p.m. EST
Florida RHP Brandon Sproat (No. 284) v. Liberty @ 4 p.m. EST
UCLA RHP Max Rajcic (No. 148) v. Cal-State Northridge @ 5 p.m. EST
Stanford LHP Quinn Matthews (No. 186) v. Cal-State Fullerton @ 5 p.m. EST
LSU RHP Blake Money (Unranked/2023) v. Maine @ 7:30 p.m. EST
Oklahoma RHP David Sandlin (No. 252) v. Arizona @ 8 p.m. EST
Oregon RHP Andrew Mosiello (No. 206) v. San Diego LHP Brycen Mautz (No. 102) @ 8 p.m. EST
This figures to be a fascinating matchup with pro-prospects galore. Not only are Mosiello and Mautz both potential Top-100 selections in July, the Ducks are loaded on offense. Shortstop Josh Kasevich (No. 86), outfielder Anthony Hall (No. 158) headline a dynamic lineup with a ton of thump and versatility. This will be a very good challenge out of the gates for Mautz.
Sunday, February 20th
Oklahoma State RHP Bryce Osmond (No. 88) v. Vanderbilt @ 1 p.m. EST
Miami RHP Alex McFarlane (No. 91) v. Towson @ 1 p.m. EST
Duke RHP Cooper Stinson (Unranked) v. Virginia Military Institute @ 1 p.m. EST
Georgia RHP Dylan Ross (No. 240) v. Albany @ 1 p.m EST
Oklahoma LHP Chazz Martinez (No. 173) v. Michigan @ 6:30 p.m. EST
